Kai Shing is the first property management company to receive the "ESG Care Label"

Kai Shing Management Services Limited (Kai Shing) has always been committed to the practice of sustainable development, the promotion of green corporate culture, and the fulfilment of social responsibilities. The company has already implemented policies in areas of environmental, social and governance (ESG) early on, dedicated to integrating the concept of "sustainable development" into management services and daily business. This year, Kai Shing received the "ESG Care Label" from SocietyNext Foundation during the 3rd ESG Recognitions Ceremony, and is the one and only property management company in Hong Kong to receive it, a great affirmation to our outstanding performance in sustainable development.

Kai Shing and the management team have always put their best foot forward in environmental, social and governance and sustainable development. We persistently work to meet the United Nation's goals on sustainable development, implementing policies while providing a framework to allow us and our colleagues, partners, and stakeholders to work towards these goals. We are committed to develop a sustainable community through a business ecosystem, expanding the business according to the principle of sustainable development, providing customers with high-quality services, minimizing the impact of business on the environment, and caring for the needs of the communities where the business is located to ultimately make positive contributions. Kai Shing has always held on to the goals and development visions for environmental, social and governance, and incorporated different policies and programmes to create a quality life for stakeholders and enhance contemporary life culture.

We avoid and minimize actions that contribute to climate change in our business practices, in hopes of reducing carbon emission in the process of our business expansion, and at the same time adopt the industry's best practices in operations to improve energy efficiency. For this, we identified the most urgent global environmental problems and set up various goals and policies to work towards relieving climate changes in multiple dimensions. In areas of energy and carbon emissions management, waste management, water management, conservation of biodiversity, and more, Kai Shing has been implementing over 10 years of environmental policy, and fulfilling sustainable development policies, sustainable building policies and climate change policies. Our 47 properties, which includes all main shopping centres and large scale residential properties, passed the environmental management system ISO 14001 certification. International Commerce Centre has also received an "Outstanding" rating in the green building assessment method BREEAM In-Use. Kai Shing fully supports the promotion of renewable energy in our managed properties, installing over 900 solar panels, and expects to install more in residential, commercial and office units.

Socially, we are committed to promoting the wellbeing of clients, the community, and colleagues, providing quality innovative policies and measures to care for all social classes. To ensure Kai Shing can bring positive influences through sustainable urban development and space, it is especially important to understand and respond to the needs of the community. In the post-pandemic era, we continue to incorporate various top-tier smart robotic teams and increase the number of sterilisation equipment to ensure the safety and hygiene of our properties and boost the clients and public's confidence. We also have over 40 properties that received the "Anti-Epidemic Hygiene Measures Certification", proving the properties being able to meet the yardstick of hygiene and epidemic prevention. In particular, International Commerce Centre was even awarded the "WELL Health-Safety Rating for Facility Operations" certificate by the International WELL Building Institute. As the manager of clients' social and living space, we are dedicated to protecting the health and safety of clients, customers and households. We stand by our promises, designing a series of property safety and security management procedures, at the same time, providing quality services to clients.

Effective business management enabled us to reach long term success and manage a wide range of sustainable development topics. In order to protect the interests of our stakeholders, Kai Shing upholds strict business ethics standards. We model after the policies and procedures that are up to international standards, incorporating environmental, social and governance into our business operation and risk management. To demonstrate our commitments in sustainable development, we incorporated sustainable management into the entire company's management framework, from management level to each department and each business unit. Through different networks stakeholders can conduct regularly exchanges, allowing the management to understand sustainable development topics related to our business to further investigate opportunities for sustainable development. Our business is regulated by different laws and regulations, thus monitoring measures have been implemented to ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations. Other than that, we will also keep abreast of the latest regulatory developments and provide relevant training to respective staff. Kai Shing implements an effective supplier code of conduct; at the same time offer all staff and commissioners customised relevant business conduct, bribery and corruption training, which will be regularly checked by the internal audit department.

In the future, Kai Shing will continue to include sustainable development and ESG related policies in innovative ways to improve the core business and service, actualising green management in every way to reach the height of environmental technology. We will work together with our colleagues, business partners, clients and community members to commit in giving back to the communities where our businesses are at.
